PART 1
Collect Information - Observation
What do you observe or notice? Look for the extraordinary in the ordinary moments by making learning visible.
Three children were playing together with a ball. They were passing the ball to each other and catching it. Child A was constantly looking at them and smiling. I went to her and asked, "Do you want to join them?" She said, "Yes." I then asked her to go and play with them. She stood up, went to them, picked up the ball, and threw it towards Child B. It was very fast, so Child B could not catch it and said, "Slow, please." The next time she threw the ball, she made it very slow, and he easily caught it. They both then exchanged smiles and continued to play.
Question and Analyse - Observation
What do you understand about what you observed? What did you find interesting or extraordinary? What leaming is being demonstrated?
What can you extend on? Suggest few experiences. What are the interests and strengths of child/ren observed? Link the information to EYLFNEYLDF learning outcomes.
Above observations tell us that children really liked the activity and that they were also able to communicate each other very well. The most extraordinary thing was the last part of the activity when A went near to B to throw the ball so that he could catch that easily. Which show their mutual understanding. Learnings that can be observed here are observation, Inclusion, Interaction, adjustment, cooperation and communication skills. Strength of children shown here are curiosity. social awareness, Initiative, adaptability, communication, empathy, cooperation strength and gross motor skills.
EYLF OUTCOMES
Outcome 1: by showing her interest in playing the game child also show her strong sense of belongingness. Outcome 2: Interest in physical activity also shows her sense of physical wellbeing.
Outcome 5: the way children put up their point shows how effective communicators they are.
PART 2
Plan
Learning Intentionfs to achieve by the end of experience (one or two):
For children to understand... For children to explore...For children to practice... etc
Balloon tennis
For children to enhance their hand eye coordination.
For children to develop social interactions.
For children to enhance gross motor skills.
Strategies: What strategies you might use to promote children's interest, play and learning? This might include interations, resources, intentional teaching. You might include some examples of modelling, scaffolding or open ended questions. How will you encourage children to learn from each other? How will the environment support play and learning?
Strategies that can be used are:
Scaffolding: I will try to help children to move their hand in a perfect manner to hit the ball.
Pairing: I will also pair children to play as teams so as to develop their communication and coordination skills. Positive reinforcement: this can be very helpful for the children to boost up their self-esteem.
Act and Do (Implementation)
Implement your experience: Did you need to modify for any reason? Any emergent experiences that arose? Give specific examples of children's involvement. What leaming processes have you observed the children using (problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching, investigating...)?
An interesting thing that happed was when Child C fell down while playing but as he saw ball coming towards him, he started to hit the ball in sitting position on the court this left each one of us laughing but also shows his gaming spirit and dedication. Learnings being observed here are determination, physical agility, hand eye coordination, team work, social and emotional development.
Review and Reflect (Evaluation)
Review: With the learning aims and the EYLFNEYLDF learning outcomes in mind, evaluate the learning and the planning. What worked well?
What can you improve? Do you need to repeat, refine or extend the plan? How will you follow up?
Gross and fine motor skills were the thing that went really well in the activity. While I can still work upon their communication and social interactions of the children. I will refine the activity to extend upon their physical coordination and enhance communication skills.
Reflect: What did you learn about yourself and your practice as a teacher. Any changes to your practice as a result?
