Mrs Greeen has end-stage dementia when she was admitted to the residential care facility,. Her family RDNS staff and her treating doctor meet and discuss the family's wishes. Their recommendation is recorded.
3.1 Does this form of documentation and staff discussion that occurred regarding the family's wishes have any legal status? Explain why or why not?
Case Study 4:
'Reginald, an 89-year-old war veteran, came into the high care facility with one leg having been amputated several years ago. Now ischaemic heart disease and other medical complications indicate his life expectancy is short. When the tell-tale signs of poor circulation appeared on his other leg, family meeting was called. " He couldn't take another operation', was the opinion of one of his sons, "can you keep him comfortable here"?
It was very difficult to keep Reginald comfortable,, because his pain was severe. No one had asked Reginald what he wanted. He appeared increasingly miserable and was refusing to get out if bed.
You are involved in Reginal's care management and have been asked to attend a case conference meeting to discuss a care plan for him.
