This morning she has seen four children who report with similar symptoms. For the past several days each child has had a nonproductive cough, sore throat, and a runny nose and has felt slightly feverish. When assessing the children, Ms. Oswald notes that all have redness in the eyes, white spots on a red background inside the mouth on the inner lining of the cheek, and a skin rash made up of large, flat blotches that often flow into one another. The nurse considers what her next action should be.
