Quality improvement teams have been created to assist the CNO with the hospital's strategic plan. Hand hygiene infection control has been identified as needing improvement.

Your team should describe how you would assess the problem to understand the root cause. In addition, the team should present how this problem impacts the patient, nursing staff, and/or organization. Use the following questions as a guide:

Share a story of why this project on infection control in hand hygiene is meaningful.

What is the problem or area of concern? What needs to be improved? How am I going to understand the problem better? How am I going to discover the root cause of the problem (chart audits, interviews, observations)?

What could be the root cause?

Based on the literature review, assessment data, and knowledge of organizational systems, describe what intervention(s) your team will implement. Provide specifics.

Based on your assessment and research, what is the most effective intervention?
