Question: You are the human resource manager in a large chain of grocery stores about to hire a new IT system programmer. Because of the downturn of the IT sector, you have received a large number of applications for the position. Bill, one of the applicants, is a nephew of your neighbour Allison, a real estate agent. One day while you were working on your lawn, Allison approached you and conveyed to you how "nice it would be to see Bill settled in a stable job like the one in your firm." Allison knows that you are on the lookout for a new, larger house right now. During the conversation, she indicated that she will find one for you without charging you any commission. You looked at Bill's application and found him to have minimum qualifications necessary for the position. However, there are a large number of candidates who have better qualifications and experience. You know that your employer is making some major strategic changes now that will enhance the information needs of the firm significantly.

What considerations will you have in making the decision (Pros and Cons)? What would you do right now? What if you knew this would all work out fine?
