Transformational Leadership focuses on the follower's needs and how to develop followers and motivate them intrinsically. A transformational leader creates goals for the group, motivates them to act in the group's interest, supports their followers and stimulates innovation, and listens to the individual needs of followers. While transactional leadership exchanges performance for rewards, transformational leadership attempts to change both the organization and followers so they want to act in the organization's best interests.

1. Based on your personal experiences with transformational leadership, what are some of the strengths and weaknesses compared to transactional leadership?

2. How do the four factors of transformational leadership and five practices of the Kouzes/Porter model relate to leadership approaches we've studied before?

3. The vision and focus on changing values and norms implies tranformational leadership is a long-term strategy, but do you think transformational leadership could be effective in the short-term? Why or why not?
