Nurses have a hard time, you know what I mean? We break our backs working twelve-hour shifts. Then, when we want a vacation, the boss says no! Last December, I wanted to take off to see my 83-year-old Aunt Yolanda in Pasadena, but I couldn't get anyone to take my shift, and then she ended up in the hospital. I think hospital administrators should be nicer about making sure we nurses have the time off we deserve. Which revision of the following sentence would be appropriate for an academic context?
