Cloud Computing allows companies to pay for computing resources as needed. These resources include; software, networking, databases, and intelligence over the internet. Customers only pay for what they consume; with consumption, there is an operating expense. Cloud computing is also a way for faster innovation and flexible resources. There are three types of cloud computing, Software as a Service (Saas - application software), Platform as a Service (PaaS - operating system, web server), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS - storage, networking, and flexibility. There are cloud characteristics such as; On-Demand Self-Service, Rapid Elasticity, Broad Network Access, etc.

IP convergence allows various devices to communicate using IP technologies, and Green computing, which tries to use computing resources more efficiently to reduce environmental impacts, are trends that can help an organization address IS infrastructure-related challenges.
