Finding the probability of each event in a group of events of different possibility
There are six balls in an urn. They are identical except for color. Two are red, three are blue, and one is yellow. You are to draw a ball from the urn, note its color, and set it aside. Then you are to draw another ball from the urn and note its color.
a. Draw a tree diagram to show all possible outcomes of the experiment. Label the probability associated with each stage of the experiment on the appropriate branch.
b. What is the probability that the first ball drawn is red and the second is yellow?
c. What is the probability that both balls are of the same color?
A doctor believes that the standard deviation of systolic blood pressure is 450. A random sample of 24 patients found a standard deviation of 520. Assume the variable is normally distributed and a = 0.01. What are the critical values?
Since 38% is less than 40%, does this mean that immediate production cutbacks are needed or can this difference of 2 percentage points be attributed to sampling?
Compute a 95% confidence interval for the population proportion of positive drug tests. Explain why is the normality assumption not a problem despite the very small value of p.
At 5% level of significance, does this sample prove violation of guideline that average patient must pay no more than $250 out-of-pocket? Write your hypotheses and decision rule.
The remaining 5 were not given the overview. Here are the scores for students in each group:
At the 0.10 level of significance, is the coin biased toward heads? Show your decision rule and calculations.
The measure of forecast accuracy that is not influenced by the measurement scale of the time series data is:
Determine the probability of choosing the area code at random which ends in the odd number if first digit cannot be 1 or 0?
There were 25 subjects included in each of the combinations of gender and smoking status. One of the variables measured was the heart rate after six minutes of exercise. A two-way ANOVA is performed with the resulting ANOVA table given below
A record executive is interested in the popularity of her label's newest band, The Standard Deviations. She asks 10 people how many Standard Deviations songs they know.
What fraction of the calls last between 4.2 and 5 minutes?
What value is standard deviation for this data? What type of probability is this?
