To develop a comprehensive case conceptualization for John, it is crucial to have a strong understanding of the processes involved to guide his treatment effectively and foster his trust and confidence in therapy (Sperry & Sperry, 2020). It is essential to first gather and organize relevant background information. This process allows for the identification and evaluation of any maladaptive patterns and behaviours John may have. To tailor John's treatment plan to his unique needs, it is essential to develop an explanation that incorporates the four formulation components: diagnostic formulation, clinical formulation, cultural formulation, and treatment formulation.
