Can you make this sound better: Throughout my practicum experiences, I have witnessed professional collaboration and guidance to work side-by-side to come to a consensus on patient plans, with benefits and risks. As a registered nurse, I've only been at the bedside, not truly being involved in patient planning. I feel like as a nurse, you follow what is told through the orders. The nurse is present during everything, whether it be a blood transfusion, preparing to discharge, or initiating end-of-life care, we see it all. As an APRN, the experience and involvement do change as we begin to make those critical decisions that will affect them. During one of my rotations, I had a patient who suffered a hypoxic-ischemic event. While this infant was in total body cooling, as a student trying to explain this to a family member was challenging because now in this role, you must give the bad news compared to listening to the bad news. It changed my outlook on how I want to be able to express lab results or imaging to families.
