ASSIGNMENT 1.

Re-read the articles from last week's assignment and identify the theories and frameworks used as the basis for the studies. If you cannot find references to theories, do more research related to your topic of interest. Develop a list of at least three theories or frameworks that support your problem statement. Write a paper in which you address the following:

Explain the basis of each theory/framework.

Explain the concepts and variables from each theory and how they are defined/operationalized in the studies.

Assess how each theory may support your study. If you do not think the theory is useful, explain why.

Based on your analysis of theories and frameworks, formulate a quantitative purpose statement that directly addresses your stated problem.

In addition, the purpose should:

Reflect the core objectives of your study.

Be written in proper quantitative research language.

Reference variables from identified theories/frameworks covered. You may also include variables you think may help address the purpose.

Reference potential participants in your study.

Justify why your purpose statement will adequately address the problem, and then include additional explanations of your stated purpose, as needed.

Length: 3-4 pages, not including title page and references

Support your paper with at least five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.

ASSIGNMENT 2.

Based on your purpose statement developed in the previous assignment, formulate two to three quantitative research questions that address the following:

Align with your purpose statement.

Are written in proper quantitative research language.

Reference variables from identified theories/frameworks covered. You may also include variables you think may help address the purpose.

Include H0 and H1

Create a research model that illustrates the variables and relationships involved in your research questions. You can draw the model using MS Word or PowerPoint, or a free drawing tool. The model should indicate directionality of relationships between variables by use of arrows, as noted by Creswell (2015, p. 56). If the relationship is unknown or does not involve cause-and-effect, use a bidirectional arrow. Provide definitions of all variables, referencing literature. End your paper by discussing how you would measure each of your variables and collect data, based on your ideas for who should participate in your study. Then, ask yourself the following questions:

What key considerations must you consider when collecting data?

How will you ensure the collected data accurately reflect the concepts under study?

What can be done to maximize the validity of the data?
