Suppose a new terrestrial type planet is found orbiting a star like the Sun at about 1AU. It has an Earth-type atmosphere (similar in temperature and density) and a well defined surface. It's orbit is nearly circular and its rotation has evolved to the point where the same part of the planet faces the central star all the time (unlike Earth).
1.) List and explain the physical processes which probably occured to result in its rotation period being the same as its orbital period
2.) Suppose the roational forces are completely neglected because of slow rotation. Sketch the expected global flow pattern of the atmosphere (say, on the outside of a circle) and give your reasons.
3.) If the atmosphere has significant water vapor like the Earths, indicate on your sketch where you expect the most rain to fall and why
The discussion of the technique should include a literature review on the evolution of the technique.
