The RESTRICT Act is an Act that attempts to address the threat posed by technology from foreign potential adversaries by helping the Department of Commerce detecting and preventing information communication and technology transactions that have undue risk. (Warner) I believe that this law should exist because of possible threats to the American citizens. Though we have learned through this class that privacy can be tested in the legal realm, there are factors that enhance security and protect your privacy. If another country decided to have an app that is designed to look like something innocent but its true intention is to take and collect information for their own purpose, I would want something in place that prevents them from accomplishing their goal. One app that has been under fire that may be banned with this Act is TikTok (Tangalakis-Lippert). A major argument against this act is that some believe it is an invasion of free speech. Agree with this statement.
