In the Perioperative area, the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) Quality Indicator and Universal Protocol are implemented with every patient. Understanding the aspects of, and rationale for, these protocols when caring for surgical patients allow Perioperative nurses provide safe, evidence-based care.
