Question

PATIENT: Adella Weiss Chief Complaint (C/C): Patient is a 35-year-old female who suffered a traumatic head injury in a car accident six months ago. She is experiencing benign paroxysmal positional vertigo of the left side. She commonly experiences loss of balance and dizziness and has fallen two times within the last three weeks due to her dizziness. Today she states that her dizziness is not as bad, and she feels confident that she can complete therapy exercises. She has not experienced any syncope or collapse. Daily Treatment Log: Began therapy session with two individual sessions of canalith repositioning to clear any canaliths within the vestibular canals that may be contributing her to her symptoms. We then initiated 15 minutes of gaze stabilization exercises to increase balance coordination. After completing the first exercise, Adella experienced a dizzy spell, which made her unable to complete the remaining therapy session. Therapist completed an additional canalith repositioning employing a different technique and left the patient to rest for 20 minutes until the dizziness had completely passed.
