How many electrons are around the central atom in the expanded valence in I3-; where the 3 is subscript and the negative sign is superscript. [TriIodid Ion] I know the answer is ten, but I want to know when doing Lewis Dots how do you know where to place the dots or what order to you do them in. Im struggling to figure out how to know where exactly the dots would be placed.
Is there a trick to figuring out where the dots are placed? Is there a particular order?
