Stare at the cross with your left eye and slowly move the handout closer to your face. While continuing to stare at the cross, note when the dot seems to disappear. [This takes some practice.) It disappears when the dot falls on the blind spot in your retina. Did you get the dot to disappear?

Even weirder, if you were to print this handout on colored paper, the blind spot area would appear colored like this paper. But how can it appear to be anything if you can't actually see it?!
