I work for Signet Jewelers and, outside of our organizations' website, we utilize online job boards and social media platforms like Zip Recruiter, Monster, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook and Indeed. We leverage our online presence to share our culture, brands, gather customer feedback, interact with customers and to attract potential candidates. The advancement in technology is astounding and makes it possible for companies to cast a wider and more efficient net when seeking talent. According to Airswift(2023), cutting-edge tools and platforms, from AI-powered candidate selection techniques to advanced recruiting software, have streamlined and automated processes, creating improved hiring results, and enhancing efficiency. Leveraging technology and recruiting online increases hiring efficiency, allowing Talent Acquisition to pre-screen potential candidates, conduct background checks, and complete assessments to ensure the potential candidate is a good fit before meeting face to face, thereby reducing the amount of time needed to find qualified applicants (Roberts, 2024). Using social media and job boards, like Facebook or LinkedIn makes it possible to network with other professionals, research possible jobs of interest and gather insight into a prospective employer. Also, sites like Glassdoor can provide relevant information and reviews about an employer posted by current and former employees.
