Simulation of Natural Selection

Assume that a population of insects has been carried by a hurricane from its natural habitat into another area where the climate is the same, but the predators are different. Instead of being eaten by ground dwelling animals that smell them and eat them as they move through the environment, they are now the prey of birds. In this simulation, the insect population will be represented by small pieces of paper and the environment in which the insects live is represented by a small cloth or paper, like a hand towel or pillowcase. The predators on this population of insects are the birds which eat insects they can easily find. As the birds "fly" over the land, the eating of the insects will be simulated by your hand removing the paper dots that you can see.
