Many plc financial reports now include information on ratios or these can be found on such systems as Extel or Datastream. A useful exercise for you would be to obtain a set of financial statements of a plc, and to calculate some ratios and compare them with any published information available. You could also attempt an analysis of the company in simplistic terms or using a published analysis (e.g. from the Financial Times or elsewhere) comment on it. These sorts of exercises lend themselves to group work by students and group presentations so if you are studying with others try doing this exercise as a group.
