Question
Cristy is on her second day postpartum. She has minimal vaginal bleeding, contracted uterus and starting to regain her strength. VS: T-37.3, P:80, RR: 90bpm and BP: 100/70. The doctor gives May Go Home order and advised her to have her follow-up after 1 week. The nurse is about to give her discharge instruction to Cristy.
Doctors Order:
-May go Home today
-Watch out for profuse vaginal bleeding
Continue breast feeding
Continue perineal hygiene
Diet as Tolerated
Home Medications:
1. Cefuroxime 750 mg PO twice a day for seven days
2. Methyl maleate 30 mg PO TID for 3 days
3. Mefenamic Acid 500 mg every 6 hours as needed for pain
4. Ascorbic Acid 500 mg once a day for 30 days
5. Ferrous sulfate 500 mg once a day for 30 days
