Question

Mr. George Bushnell is a 50 year old male who was admitted to our unit at 0600 this morning with severe nausea and vomiting. Two days ago he developed abdominal cramping, nausea and vomiting and severe diarrhea 12 hours after eating lunch at a fast food restaurant. The symptoms have continued for the past two days and food and fluid intake have been minimal to none since the symptoms began. Last night he nearly passed out while going to the bathroom around 0300. Mr. Bushnell was brought to the emergency room by his family member. Upon admission he reported dizziness, weakness, and continued nausea. He received 4 mg of ondansetron IV for nausea. Lab work was drawn and results just came back and are in the patient's chart. Stool samples have been sent to the lab.
