Drug interactions between Donepezil 5 mg by mouth at bedtime. Donepezil works by selectively inhibiting acetylcholinesterase enzymes. These enzymes can break down acetylcholine. As a result of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme inhibition, cholinergic transmission is enhanced, and the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease are relieved (Kumar, 2021). Side effects from taking Donepezil include severe abdominal pain, trouble urinating, black, tarry stools, like coffee emesis, seizures, fainting, severe dizziness or slow/irregular heartbeat (Kumar, 2021). Prazosin 1 mg at bedtime: Prazosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. It is typically prescribed to treat hypertension, but off-label this medication can be prescribed to reduce the number of nightmares the patient experiences. Side effects for Prazosin include orthostatic hypotension, headache, edema, nervousness, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, syncope, malaise, and xerostomia. Crestor 20 mg by mouth at bedtime: Crestor is a medication prescribed to treat high cholesterol. A drawback to taking Crestor is the potential for elevated blood sugars. Common side effects could include muscle aches, headache, muscle aches, weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, confusion and memory loss.
