A 41 year old female received her first routine screening mammogram. A suspicious area is noted by the radiologist. In response, they order a diagnostic mammogram for spot compression and lesion isolation imaging. The spot visu diagnostic mammogram is radio dense and irregularly shaped. As the patient's PCP. the NP will then:

• inform the patient of her cancer diagnosis

• refer the patient to a surgeon for a breast lesion biopsy

• order BRCA 1 / BRCA 2 genetic testing

• instruct the patient that these hndings are consistent with fibrocystic breast disease and recommends a routine follow-up mammogram in 1-2 years.
