You have just been offered a 1 year Internship in a multi-hospital healthcare network in NC. One role in this internship is to assist the recording Secretary of an HEC of a hospital in Raleigh NC. You note that in February's meeting a review of the hospitals policies and practices regarding newly dead patients and their families is first on the agenda for discussion. What specific policies or procedures would you like to see considered in this review? Essentially all patient deaths occur in the Emergency and Accident Department, in Surgical Suites, Cardiac Cath Labs, or Recovery areas, or patient rooms including ICU areas. The Autopsy/Morgue is on the ground floor level in the rear near to loading dock & receiving area.
