A.W. is a 29-year-old male accompanied by his fiance who presents with complaints of chest discomfort that began 1.5 months ago. When asked where the pain is he points to the epigastric area. Also reports that the pain radiates occasionally to the mid chest area. Pain level fluctuates 4-8/10, dull ache or sometimes sharp, occurs at random night or day, lasts minutes to a few hours then self-resolves, some days no discomfort. Denies nausea or vomiting. Reports mild bloating and loss of appetite. After the most recent episode, he went to the ER and was released the same day. He was told to follow up with PCP. Reports a bowl of ice cream triggered an episode a few weeks ago so since then he's reduced the amount he eats and feels it has helped some.
