Paula is a 74-year-old female who was brought into the ED by her son with a report of abdominal pain. She presents with bruising and tenderness on her right side. Pain is localized to the right side of the abdomen and hip is tender to touch. She reports she did not fall and looks to her son for answers to questions. Her son reports that he found his mother lying in bed moaning while holding her side. Paula has a history of early-onset dementia, and since her diagnosis has been living with her nephew and his girlfriend. She also has a history of hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The only current medication is bumetanide 1 mg PO BID for hypertension. Allergies: Amoxicillin, patient received two routine COVID-19 vaccinations and a booster 3 weeks ago.
