Statistical significance refers to the reliability and validity as well as the soundness of a research study (Ranganathan, et al., 2015). THis Statistical significance shows that there is a relationship between two variables that would can not be possible just by chance (Ranganathan, et al., 2015). A study can appear statistically significant even if it is not though because it can be heavily dependent on sample size because if there is a small sample it is more likely to seem like the results are statistically significant (Ranganathan, et al., 2015). So, with this it is important to see if a study is statistically significant, but also if the study was performed on a large and diverse enough sample so that the results are legitimate.

On the other hand there is clinical significance. Clinical significance has to do with the practical impact of a study and whether it will have an impact on diary life (Los Rios, 2017). An example would be a study that found that a medication reduced recovery time from a tonsillectomy from 14 days to three. Clinical significance related directly to the real world application of a study's findings and how those specific findings can be applied to realistic issues (Los Rios, 2017). Often statistical significance goes along with clinical significance, but that is not always the case. A study can show a relationship between variables and be statistically significant, but that significance does not be clinically relevant (Los Rios, 2017).
