ASSIGNMENT TASK
Intervention Programme:
Example
In most New Zealand industries, NIHL (Noise-Induced Hearing Loss) is a significant issue for personnel, organisation and national perspectives. The current compensation costs are about $30 million per annum but increasing. Individuals lose their hearing in known frequencies which often results in isolation and subsequent depression frequently later in life. Organisationally, the levies have to meet the costs of hearing aids and audiometric services and the individuals may be affected by an increasing injury rate. Nationally, the costs are a significant burden on society as a whole.
Developing an Intervention Programme
Develop and apply an intervention strategy for a specific organisation to reduce the burden for individuals and the organisation. Consider also whether your strategy can be utilised at a national level and potential stakeholders that would be required to be involved as well as their role in the intervention.
Refer to recent available New Zealand research reports as well as international publications discussing your issue. Consider the various practical options critically and any other information you deem relevant. Review and analyse health and safety information from previous programme strategies.
Write a professional report of 4000 words (± 10%) to the senior management of your organisation, proposing a possible solution to the problem identified based on evidence you have available. Consider also such factors as, legislative compliance, costs of implementation, cost-benefit and how you would evaluate your intervention.
