Preparing a 5% Red Blood Cell Suspension

Label a plastic test tube with the same information located on the patient sample.

Using the 1mL volumetric pipette, add 1mL of the 0.85% w/v saline prepared above to the labelled test tube.

Add 50uL of patient red cell sample to the labelled test tube using a micropipette.

Using a plastic transfer pipette, gently aspirate and dispense the solution a few times to mix.

An MLT is required to make three times the amount of the 5% patient red blood cell suspension used today. Using the procedure followed today, list the volume of saline and patient sample that would be required.
