Give a business world example of each of the following:
a network model which would require the maximum-flow technique
a network model which would require the shortest-route technique
a network model which would require the minimal-spanning tree technique.
this was the discussion please 100 word response to the following post
A real-world business example of the maximal-flow technique would be the maximum number of pounds that could go through an entire machine process in a facility. It would take the number of possible combinations (or path) through the network and give a time measurable flow (such as pounds per minute). This would be a great way to determine maximum total inventory of all types. An example of the shortest-route technique would be using inter-modal trucking. For example, a truck would have multiple stops, leave its container on a rail yard, then another truck would pick it back up. The shortest-route technique could find the shortest distance between all these points. This would be optimal due to the current cost of transportation—and I imagine that this is exactly what GPS algorithms use. The minimal-spanning technique is great for an intense factory electrical wiring project, in which several points must relate to the least amount of electrical wire being utilized to save money. In fact, next week our facility is connecting a security camera system in the building. This will involve both utilizing the correct amount of wiring, considering each camera location a node. It will also add a variable of visibility to the mix, but the idea is generally the same.
