Assignment:

A patient is seen in your office for a routine dental appointment and is due for an FMX. The dentist asks you, the LDA and dental radiographer, to take the radiographs and leaves the room. The patient then tells you about a recent news article he read about the dangers of radiation and asks you if the images are necessary.

Consider how you would handle this situation and include the following in your post:

  • Explain what you would say to the patient to educate him about radiation and put him at ease.
  • Explain precautions that are taken to minimize radiation for both the patient and the dental radiographer.
  • Be sure to use examples for your explanation.
