Reflective Paper: Purpose of assignment: Learning Outcomes
Insights Gained (Base on your personal experienced with your groupmates and you could apply it)
To provide an opportunity for learners to reflect on their learning experience throughout the course and to reflect on key concepts covered, while analyzing how they will incorporate key insights gained into their own future practice as HR specialists and/ or educators.
- Analyze factors impacting how adults learn.
- Examine components of program planning.
- Examine effective collaboration and teamwork skills essential to the program planning process.
Instruction: Submit a reflective summary that addresses your insights gained from the course. These insights should include some of your key learnings from our content (lessons/ modules), however, it should also extend beyond the content and textbook. Although I am looking for you to discuss key learnings related to our course material, I am also looking for you to explore your learning beyond the content as it relates to your experience in the course (e.g. perhaps some informal or incidental learning took place). Make connections between your learning experience and material we have covered.
Insights Gained: Key Learnings
This should include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Identify several key concepts from the course that stood out most for you? What is it about these concepts that resonated for you? Be thorough.
- What were some new insights/ meaningful learning moments you experienced in the course which extend "BEYOND THE CONTENT"? E.g. was there a particular discussion or activity that affected you, or influenced your perspective toward "something"? Do you have a newfound awareness which resulted from a particular aspect of the course? Etc.
- What did you learn about yourself as an adult learner and future facilitator?
- Describe your facilitation experience. What are some of your strengths as a facilitator? How will you take advantage of these strengths as a future facilitator? What are some areas you would like to work on? What specific strategies will you use in order to improve these areas as you work toward being an effective facilitator? Etc.
- Team dynamics regarding your group process. Describe your experience during the team project.
- What did you learn about the importance of teamwork and collaboration as it relates to the development of effective training programs?
- How did you contribute in order to help make this a positive learning experience for the other members in your team...in other words, what did you give in order to ensure this was a positive and meaningful experience for your teammates? Note: I am NOT asking you describe the content you provided for the project. Dig deeper.
- Where do you feel you need improvement as a team member? Explain and be specific. How will you address this moving forward in order to ensure you make a meaningful contribution during your next team experience?
- What did you receive from the others in your team during this process? What did you learn from your teammates as a result of this process?
Personal Teaching Philosophy:
- Everyone has a teaching philosophy whether they know it or not. Even though you may not have experience teaching/ training, you have been a student for many years, you have been in all types of classrooms, and have had all types of teachers. As a result, you have opinions about what works, what does not work, and what you would do if you were teaching/ training others. Think about great teachers you have had who inspired you, and teachers who were not so effective. Reflect on their behaviours and values.
- Now reflect on yourself as a future trainer/ facilitator. What are your thoughts about teaching and learning? What are your motivations for teaching? What methods and strategies do you feel are most effective? What values and principles do you hold that will help inform your practice as an educator? What are your personal goals as an educator (trainer/ facilitator)?
Reflective Practice: Application
- Now that you have explored key insights gained regarding specific content, and you have explored some of your key learning moments that extend beyond the content, discuss how you will use/ apply these new insights in your future professional practice.
- How will you incorporate these to your own practice as an adult learner, a facilitator, and as a future HR professional?
- This is an opportunity for you to communicate depth and understanding of key themes and learnings which resonated for you by illustrating how you will apply your new insights moving forward.
