This image is from an account called 'providencehealthsystem' on Instagram and the account is connected to the Providence organization. - This image represents how common vaping is among teens and highlights what risks vapes impose on those who use it. This image generates the idea that e-cigarette use is not healthy and can have serious consequences. -This image targets the socio-demographic group of teens and young adults as the statistic it highlights is directly connected to teens. It could also appeal to parents that are on social media to help them realize how big a problem e-cigarettes have gotten among teens. -I think this could have two possible impacts among the youth who are exposed to it. The first being that maybe vaping isn't so good and that one should either stop doing it or not do it at all. Or the other impact that vaping is so popular among my age group(teens) that I should start doing it to possibly fit in with my peers. - I think the ideas this post generates in relation to e-cigarette prevention needs are linked to secondary prevention. They are trying to target a group of individuals that already have some exposure to vaping in order to minimize the damage that it could have. To me this post does exhibit a bit of the scare tactic describing the harmful effects of the drug which described in the textbook can lead to the mere exposure effect and enhancing the urge to rebel (Rosenthal pg.1222).
