Work Design Digitalization in the workplace refers to the deployment of automated support tools for operational efficiency. Workplace digitalization cause changes in job expectations, job designs, and job resources of employees, and hence is considered to impact employee engagement. Some practitioners also add that the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified the necessity of workplace digitalization, due to the various restrictions on physical interactions that it imposed. For business entities to remain productive in contemporary times they must embrace digitalization. Consequently, some experts posit that the use digital technologies such as artificial intelligence at the workplace will help business entities remain productive in the midst of uncontrolled external shocks. Nevertheless, some business owners contemplate the implications of resource constraints associated with digital transformation (planned change) in the workplace.
