Title
Keep it short and informative.
Not included in the word count.
Introduction (approx. 300 words)
Explain the context: provide brief and relevant information about the organisation and the business issues the organisation is facing.
Provide a clear, concise statement of the business issue you are addressing.
Research question (approx. 100 words)
State the specific research question that you aim to answer. Ensure the research question reflects the business issue. Remember you are trying to convince your stakeholders that this question is worth asking (and answering).
Preliminary literature review (approx. 500 words)
Conduct literature review of what is already known in regards to the business issue.
Reflect on the business issue and frame your proposed response based on HRM or management literatures. For example, HRM practitioners may choose to explore the issue from the perspective of recruitment and training or employee development. Management practitioners may look at leadership, change management, entrepreneurship, culture, knowledge management or other. Select one or two perspectives from your discipline. Selecting more than two perspectives is unlikely to offer the depth of analysis to demonstrate knowledge of the selected area.
Revisit your research question after conducting the literature review. It is likely that the insights you gained from reviewing literature will lead to altering your research question.
Proposed research design (approx. 200 words)
This section identifies the way in which you are going to investigate the business issue. Briefly describe the ways in which you propose to gather data (survey, interviews, focus group, review of documents, observations etc.)
Who are your participants and how do you plan to approach them?
Ethical considerations (approx. 100 - 200 words)
Briefly indicate any ethical issues or problems you will need to consider when undertaking the research. E.g. how will you obtain informed consent from the individuals and/or organisation? How will you ensure participant confidentiality?
Proposed practical contributions of your research (approx. 200 - 300 words)
Explain what new insights you will contribute to dealing with the business issue. How organisation is likely to benefit from these insights and to whom they are relevant. Discuss how do you plan to consider responsible practices in your research.
