Question

77-year-old man presents with six week difficulty walking, problems with memory, and urinary incontinence. He has difficulty beginning to walk, according to his wife, and when he does he only shuffles his feet. He does not have resting tremor, or masked facies-or reduced degree of facial expression. A noncontrast head CT demonstrates enlarged lateral ventricles with diminished prominence of cortical sulci. He is awake and alert, but has difficulty with both recent and immediate recall on memory testing; remote memory is intact. He is given an MMSE (below) and scores 23 out of 30. He has some spasticity and hyperreflexia in the upper and lower extremities. He is also hypertensive and taking Lasix to reduce blood volume. what are the indicators that this patient does not have Alzheimer's disease?
