Assume you are a Director of Veera Lal & Sons Company. The company has been in operations for 35 years and has 1000 employees. Since the company's formation, the industry has experienced changes in the Industrial/employment relation.

The company's industrial/employment relations policy is outdated, and recently, the company experienced new problems. The existing policies do not cover the current issues identified, while some issues require the development of new policies.

As the company director, identify the most priority HR issues affecting the company operations and design the policy.

Instructions: As the company director, Identify one of the most priority industrial/employment-related problems the company experienced or modify the existing policy to incorporate the latest changes and design the policy. In creating/modifying the policy, students must use five (5) steps to policymaking as outlined below.

FIVE STEPS:

  • Agenda-students clearly identify the issue in the company. Provide the details of HR issues/problem identified in the organization.
  • Policy Formulation - show evidence of research to design policy. What possibilities are available to resolve the problem (option) to make the policy (negative/positive options addressed)
  • Adoption (decision making) - write the actual policy. Ensure the policy content as given in the lecture notes are included.
  • Implementation - What instrument (method) will be used to implement the policy. Probably identify the section/department /level of management involved in the implementation of the policy.
  • Evaluation - gauge effectiveness (which methods will be used for evaluation.
