Case Study - B Additional Information
Whilst Juan chooses to sleep with his top denture in, he prefers to clean around and under it after every meal. You noticed that when he opened his mouth, the top denture seems to fall down onto his tongue. Juan hands you the denture to clean. Whilst cleaning the top plate, you ask him if everything is ok with the denture, and he replied "its fine, I'll put more denture glue on to keep it in place". You talk to Juan about the option to organising a specialist appointment to get the denture checked, and he has agreed for this to be organised.
Juan is meeting with friends at the local club for lunch today. The wheelchair taxi has been booked for the end of your shift at 10:30am, as he has some shopping he'd like to do beforehand. Juan is ready and the taxi has arrived. Incidentally, one of your casual friends is the taxi driver (Leo). You engage in pleasant conversation and take the opportunity to introduce Juan to Leo.
Juan heads off to town and you continue on with your day.
The following week you run into Leo at a social event. Leo raises the topic of seeing you at Juan's home. Leo seemed impressed with Juan's electric wheelchair and starts asking questions about Juan's health status and diagnosis. For example, "What happened to his left hand? Can he pick things up with his left hand? Is he able to walk at all? Has he ever crashed the wheelchair because he couldn't steer properly?"
Question
1. Explain how you would politely responds to Leo's questions, ensuring that your answers abide by the organisation's policy and procedures.
