Case study
Anita recently started working in a storage warehouse. There were different types of containers storing a variety of products. She was designated to work in a specific area where food products were stored and was given an orientation by her supervisor. The orientation included a short tour of the facility. Anita found a different area of the facility stored chemicals in cylinders and liquid form.
One day Anita was assigned to the chemical storage area due to staff shortage. Two workers were carrying out some painting work in the area nearby and had painting materials including paint thinner to clean brushes. As Anita passed the area she became dizzy and fainted. The two workers took her outside the building and called the supervisor immediately. She was taken to the hospital for a check-up. The company has decided to call in a Safety Consultant to review their safety program.
