The following task is to be demonstrated and assessed in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in the workforce development - human resource development field of work and include access to:

For this task you are to complete the following activity to demonstrate your ability to support the recruitment, selection and induction of staff.
Plan for the recruitment through completion of the following actions:
1. Obtain approval to fill the position/s, clarifying and recording the time lines and the requirement for the appointment.
2. Working according to organisational policies and procedures, and in compliance with the legislation, codes, national standards and WHS considerations, and consulting with relevant personnel about job descriptions and workforce strategy, assist in the preparation of job descriptions that accurately reflect the requirements of the role, ensuring that this reflects the organisation's requirements for a diverse workforce.
3. Obtain approval to advertise the position. Provide evidence of this approval.
Complete the following actions to plan for the selection:
4. Choose the appropriate channels and technology for advertising the vacancies and/or identify the potential talent pool. Record these details.
5. Advertise the vacancies for staffing requirements. Provide a copy of the advertisement.
6. In consultation with relevant personnel, convene a selection panel and develop the interview questions, ensuring that these comply with legislative requirements. Record the selection panel participants and the interview questions developed.
7. Assist in the process of short-listing the applicants. Record the short-list.
8. Schedule the interviews and advise the relevant people of the times, dates and venues. Record the scheduled interviews, and provide evidence of advising the relevant people.
Support the selection process through the following activities:
9. Participate in the interview process, assessing the candidates against agreed selection criteria. Document these assessments, and provide any notes taken during the interview process.
10. Discuss the assessment with other selection panel members, correcting for biases and deviations from the agreed procedures, and negotiating for the preferred candidate. Record the outcomes of this discussion. Including corrections of biases and negotiation outcomes.
11. Contact the referees to obtain referee reports.
12. Prepare selection report, making recommendations to senior personnel for the appointment, and noting the feedback to give unsuccessful candidates.
13. Advise the unsuccessful candidates of the outcomes, and respond to any queries. Provide evidence of the advising of unsuccessful candidates, noting any queries.
14. Secure the agreement of the preferred candidate. Provide evidence of this step.
To induct the successful candidate:
15. Complete the necessary documentation, observing confidentiality and privacy requirements.
16. Provide the successful candidate with their employment contract and other documentation.
17. Advise the manager and the work team of the new appointment, including the candidate's starting date, and make the necessary administrative arrangements for pay and employee record keeping. Provide any documented notifications to the manager and work team, and administrative arrangements made.
