A random sample of married men all retired, were classified according to their educational level and number of children as shown in the table below. The idea is to determine if the size of a family is independent on the level of education attained by the father.
There two values in each cell. The number, not in parenthesis, represents the observed value: Oij, whereas the number in parenthesis represents the expected value corresponding to each observation, that is, eij. For example in cell #1, 14 is the observed value whereas 18.7 is the expected value.

Perform a contingency analysis on the data to determine if there is any dependency between the number of level of education attained by the father and the size of his family. Use α = 0.05?

Calculate the mean and standard deviation of the following data sets, then produce a five number summary and box plot of data.
How large should n be so that the standard deviation of is no more than 0.01 and sampling distribution
Use the method of least squares to model the relationship between x and y.
The hypothesis that the samples came from identical populations cannot be rejected, the T value is 16.5 greater that the lower limit.
Can we conclude there is a difference in mean number of surgeries performed by hospital or by day of week?
An SRS of 100 of a certain popular model car in 1993 found that 20 had a certain minor defect in the brakes. An SRS of 400 of this model car in 1994 found that 50 had the minor defect in the brakes. Let p1 and p2 be the proportion of all cars of t..
The p-value of the test is closest to:
The main purpose of this exercise is to check your understanding of significance level, p-values and power .
Explain why we need to use the t distribution. What assumption do you need to make?
Compute a 5-month moving average forecast for June through January.
Determine the distribution of X? Determine its parameters?
At the 5% significance level, if the sample proportion is .45, and the standard error of the sample proportion is .035, the appropriate conclusion would be:
