Assignment - Instructions for the Overall Material Balance

Work with your learning pod to perform an overall material balance for fuel-grade ethanol production.  This balance is much simplified, but will help you to review or to learn how to apply the degrees of freedom formalism and to set-up and solve a system of equations for material balance around a process with a reactor.

This mass balance will be informed by finding typical fuel-grade ethanol product specifications, i.e. composition of fuel-grade ethanol.

You will need to hand in one paper for your pod, but each pod member must do the assignment and have the completely correct solution in their course binder.

You must hand in your pod's calculations in the form of a computer program, e.g. MatLab or MathCad.  Your code must be completely annotated so that anyone looking at it could understand what was done.  You must also hand in a process diagram illustrating what your material balance is for along with a material balance table correctly formatted.

In addition, you must hand in a brief report that discusses each step in the methodology you used to complete this assignment.

Your learning pod is made up of five people, each of you is an equal and must work as such.  Each person MUST know how to do every step of this and every assignment.  Utilize the pod effectively; discuss the assignment as a group, then each person should work independently for some agreed upon time, the pod should then come together to review each other's work and iterate.  You must not divide the work as would otherwise be done on a team.  Each person MUST know how to do every step of this and every assignment.   Assemble an agreed upon solution to each problem, edit and present your best product.

I worked in the problem and I draw the system. I just want to specify the PSC with the amount and do the material balance in MATLAB software and also put the references from where you got the information.
