Question

My Patient is Mr R.S, 67 years old male admitted to the ER 3/10/24 at 0134 am with complains of cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and fever progressively worsening for the past week. The Patient has no known allegies. His shortness of breath is exacerbated by exertion and alleviated by rest. He has been using OTC cold medications two to three times daily but it is helping only minimally. The patient believes the fatigue and dry cough began just over a week ago. The productivity of his cough has progressively increased over the past two days. Shortly thereafter the cough became productive of yellowish/green sputum and he developed a mild fever. After experiencing significant shortness of breath with minor exertion from simply walking around the house he decided it was time to come to the hospital. He recalls developing cold-like symptoms about a week prior to developing the fatigue and cough. Today he measured a fever of 101.4 oF. He has a history of hypertension and stroke with residual left facial droop and was diagnosed with Community Acquired Pneumonia. Patient has never been hospitalized with pneumonia. He admits to some chest tightness/pain when he coughs a lot and is short.
