Family was welcoming to CCLS upon entering the room. Per nursing report, the parents are feeling guilty about their daughter's diagnosis, especially the mother. Mother has stated that she feels that if she had received prenatal care, that her daughter would not be affected by cancer. Patient's mother and father do not want the patient to know the severity of her illness and have decided to give her very little information. Upon entering the room this CCLS observes that the patient is sitting up in a chair, eating Cheetos and watching a Princess Sophia cartoon on the television. The patient averted her eyes when this CCLS spoke to her. This CCLS then engaged in conversation with the mother to assist in building trust with the mother and in developing rapport with the patient.
