Question

Models are used all the time in environmental science to characterize and hypothesize relationships among variables. Thus, it's important to become familiar and comfortable with different types of models, their potential application, and their assumptions/limitations. Applying different combinations of parameters to different models gives us a sense of how each parameter contributes to describing the X/Y relationship.

1. Briefly compare the a and b parameters in linear versus exponential models.

2. How do these parameters function similarly or differently between the two models?

3. What can they tell you about the general behavior and/or constraints of the two different models?
