The nursing metaparadigm is a set of concept that outlines the fundamental elements of nursing practice and provides a comprehensive view of the care that nurses provide. It consists of four primary domains: Nursing, Environment, Health, and Person. In this paper, I will explore each of these domains, define them based on various nursing theorists, and integrate them into my personal nursing philosophy. Additionally, I will compare the nursing philosophies of Miami Dade College Benjamin Leon School of Nursing and a selected hospital to highlight similarities and differences. Four Domains: Nursing: According to Florence Nightingale, nursing is "the act of utilizing the environment of the patient to assist him in his recovery." It involves the activities that promote healing, prevent illness, and help patients cope with their conditions. Environment: Nightingale also emphasized the importance of the environment in patient care, defining it as all the external conditions and influences affecting the life and development of an organism. It can include physical, psychological, and socio-cultural factors. Health: Health, as defined by the World Health Organization, is "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." This holistic view is widely accepted.
