NURSE NOTES: Scenario: John presents with complaints of persistent joint pain in both knees, making it difficult for him to walk and perform daily activities. Objective/Subiective Data: • Objective: John appears to have limited range of motion in his knees, favoring the left side while walking. He rates his pain as 8/10 on the pain scale. • Subjective: John reports that the pain has been progressively worsening over the past six months, impacting his ability to participate in social activities and exercise. Vitals: • Blood pressure: 130/80 mmHg • Heart rate: 76 bpm • Respiratory rate: 16 breaths per minute • Temperature: 98.6°F Assessment: • Osteoarthritis of both knees • Impaired mobility related to joint pain and limited range of motion Interventions: 1. Administer acetaminophen 1000mg orally as ordered for pain relief. 2. Apply a cold compress to both knees for 15 minutes to reduce inflammation. 3. Provide a cane to assist with weight-bearing and improve stability during ambulation. Evaluation: • After interventions, evaluate John's pain level to determine the effectiveness of pain management strategies. • Assess his ability to walk with the cane and if it improves his mobility and stability.

Education:

1. Educate John about the importance of regular low-impact exercises, such as swimming or cclina, to strenathen muscles

2. Instruct John on the proper use of heat and cold therapy at home for pain management.

3. Provide information on weight management and the benefits of maintaining a healthy weight to reduce stress on the joints.
