My role as an intern aligns with the general practice because moving into this position, I will be able to build more rapport with my patients, as mentioned before. I will be able to create a system of resources that the patient may already have and provide additional resources to the patient. I will also be able to assist in changing the patient's environment if that is a problem for the patient. Many of our adult patients are homeless, and in the current position I am in I will not be able to assist in changing that in any way. In an intern position, I can have more influence in the treatment team, and with my lead therapist to look for different options for the patient. Being an intern, I will be able to properly end the relationship with a client, therapeutically rather than them just leaving and me not being aware of it. As an intern I will be able to track the progress that a patient either is or isn't making, and create or shift plans to better help them therapeutically, roles and tasks, and how those relate to generalist social work practice. ?
